This track is open to anyone who registers for Tracks 2-5.


Individuals who would like to learn how to improve their video making abilities and how their videos can become an important part of citizen's media are encouraged to attend this workshop and festival.

As digital video cameras become more popular, as people start taking videos from their cellphones, and as new sites emerge online to distribute these videos, citizens. filmmaking is set to take off. Many people will be simply sharing home movies. Others, however, will want to create documentaries, political advertisements, and citizen journalism.

The Media Giraffe Grassroots Filmmaking Workshop & Festival will celebrate noteworthy citizens. filmmaking and provide workshops for those wishing to learn how to become more involved.

It will take place Thurs., June 29 at University of Massachusetts Amherst, as part of the first Media Giraffe Project summit and conference. Individuals who would like to highlight their videos are encouraged to submit them for the festival at via YouTube . . .

POST-CONFERENCE OPPORTUNITIES:

 

The event kicks off the Independence Day weekend, and we plan to package a variety of opportunities for post-conference touring of New England for attendees who wish to linger through July 4. The Five Colleges area of Massachusetts offers a remarkable combination of sophisticated, urban amenities amid rural beauty and is less than two hours from Boston. Access is via the Bradley International Airport (BDL), Providence or Boston.
