Two FCC commissioners hear testimony about media consolidation at Milwaukee event organized by Free Press

Free Press, the media-reform lobby group, orchestrated another of a series of hearings on Sept. 7, 2006, in collaboration with two Democrats on the Federal Communications Commission, Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein.  A report  at the website BizTimes said over 300 people attended at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, mostly of them speaking out against media consolidation.   (EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT) / Janesville [Wis.] Gazette editoral supporting cross-ownership. The Federal Communications Commission said Friday it will conduct an official public hearing in Los Angeles on media ownership issues on Oct. 3.  (AP via San Jose Mercury News)
