>From YouTube's citizen journalism unit to CNN's i-Report to Minnesota Public Radio's Public Insight Journalism, media outlets are forging new models of journalism. How, if at all, do these initiatives restore relevancy to the news and strengthen community connections? How eager is the public to participate? And what does a genuine partnership between the public and the press look like? Minnesota Public Radio News in conjunction with Journalism that Matters aims to find out. MPR will invite people to the UBS Forum to examine a range of media initiatives designed to build relevance and relationships with the public -- from open comments on stories to hyper-local journalism by citizens to pro-am partnerships. Participants will then explain their ideas and answer questions from an expert panel of people engaged in changing the way news is reported and delivered. About the Event: The event is free and is sandwiched between the Passion for Place conference and the National Conference for Media Reform. We will assemble a group of people who have varied connections with the press through our Public Insight Network. The Forum is by invitation only but will be available live on the web and recorded for potential broadcast.
