Excerpted from the Get Local News website (http://getlocalnews.com/):
We want to create a continuous flow of information - reports on breaking news stories: debates on local, regional and national political issues; publication of fiction, art and music - all without the need for traditional reporters and editors.
We hope to create a place where you can take on City Hall or even your boss without fear of retaliation. We want constructive criticism and debate. That dialogue is lacking in the thousands of communities whose only source of news is a monopoly newspaper usually owned by a chain only interested in maximizing profits -- the same chains that own the book, magazine, music, television and film industries.
